Sculptures and Mosaics

VIEW PROJECT GALLERY

With the help and guidance of the local community Action Factory designed and created a number of sculptures.

These sculptures can be seen at the junction of Cog Lane and Accrington Road and the design is intended to link the past with the present at the site of an old turnpike road.

A series of cogs were designed by local people which are now set into the sculptures and on to the walls of houses and ground.

The cog-themed seat provides a welcome break with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and passing traffic.

This project was carried out with funding from Burnley Borough Council and in association with Burnley Borough Council, South West Burnley Community Association and the Neighbourhood Management Team at South West Burnley.

"Young People are uniquely placed to make a positive contribution to their local community, because they bring clarity, honesty and sense of purpose to everything they do. That's why we're so proud of our young people and their involvement in the Green Routes Cog Lane Project, which has clearly benefited from their wholehearted enthusiasm" Chris Keene, Centre Manager, Stoops & Hargher Clough Community Centre, Burnley.

"This project has engage people who might otherwise find it difficult to take part in  more conventional public consultation methods, and perhaps most importantly, has provided a much needed injection of colour, vibrancy and fun into a neighbourhood undergoing dramatic change and uncertainty" Louise Kirkup, Prinicipal Planner (Neighbourhoods) Burnley Borough Council
