Community Regeneration

Participatory arts are acknowledged as having a key role to play in the regeneration of communities. The arts provide exciting, inspiring, fun and creative opportunities for people to express their concerns, aspirations and visions for their communities. They are instrumental in brokering an understanding of and coming to terms with the regeneration process ands its impact on a community.

Participatory arts invests in peoples individual and collective learning and the communities involvement in a regeneration project which uses the arts may lead to a lasting permanent piece of public art, innovative street furniture, civic spaces, signage and other aspects of the built environment. It may also manifest itself in the written word, through music, reminiscence, celebration, video and digital arts or other visual and performing arts.
