Creative Partnerships East Lancashire is part of a wider national programme managed by Arts Council England. It gives young people in 36 disadvantaged areas across England the opportunity to develop their creativity and their ambition by building partnerships between schools and creative organisations, businesses and individuals. Creative Partnerships aims to demonstrate the pivotal role creativity and creative people can play in transforming education in every curriculum subject for children of all ages and all abilities.
Action Factory will be working closely with Stoneyholme Primary School in Burnley as a creative producer and aim to build up a close relaionship with the school over the coming months, working on projects with children, staff, artists and families to develop the role creativity plays in the school.
Creative Partnership East Lancashire had its official launch at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in December 2005, where the team shared their ambitions for the scheme to an audience drawn from East Lancashire and beyond. Wayne Hemingway talked about his school experiences and his work in the creative industries and children from Stoneyholme performed a song that they had written with a songwriter.
Action Factory were asked to deliver a series of workshops on a travel theme for the launch, reflecting the creative journey we are embarking on in East Lancashire. The evening was jammed full of fun and laughter and creative madness! See the gallery for images of the event.
Please keep checking for updates on the project as it progresses through the year.
