Elspeth Mackellar contacted Action Factory after looking at our website and deciding she would like to come and do a weeks volunteering with us on a trip to the UK in June 2006. Elspeth, from Sydney is currently studying a BA in Communications, specialising in Theatre at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, Australia. As part of her course she needed to spend time with arts organisations getting some hands on experience. Elspeth helped to design and make costumes for this years community performance of Robin Hood at Arts in the Park.
Elspeth also took part in Mask Making Training, provided by Kerith Ogden and was joined by a team of volunteers from Action Factory. The masks the volunteers made will appear in the performance of Robin Hood.
Elspeth said 'I chose to come to Action Factory for its diverse range of arts which they use as a tool for cultural Action and social change. The environment of Action Factory is inspiring, energetic and creative, this week has shown me how powerful participatory arts can be in bringing people together. Robin Hood is going to be a fantastic event!'
