Graffiti Rules!

VIEW PROJECT GALLERY

A group of 8 young people aged 11 to 16 years came to Action Factory to get involved in a workshop on graffiti art.

Artist and project manager, Lucy Jones, demonstrated some of the techniques involved in this style of art. The 8 youngsters spent 2 hours creating their own graffiti signatures. They were fully engaged with the activity and produced some great work.

Background

Most of the young people involved in the session had issues around poor attendance in education, low self-esteem and challenging behaviours. This workshop enabled the group to be involved in an art-based project that emphasised acceptable social behaviours, an awareness of other people and their environment and that of the wider community.

Result

The group learned new skills and positively interacted with each other by working in groups as well as individually, they communicated postively by listening and following instructions to create their own individual graffiti signatures and great fun was had by all!
